BäHR ,KARL
NAME:Real name: Karl Bähr (he doesn’t remember his real name at all.
Known as: Charlie Bear
GENDER: Male
BIRTHDATE: 21 February 1966
AGE: 43
ETHNICITY: German
HOMETOWN: Munich
FOUND IN: Munich
NATIVE LANGUAGE: German, although he barely remembers it.
SPEAKS ENGLISH: Yes, but he still has problems with languages. He knows English because that’s what one of the younger residents taught him when he was placed into the barracks.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Charlie has curly black hair that’s just starting to gray. He has green eyes, and his left eye is usually wider, and less dilated than the right (he’s blind in that eye.) He has a scar over his left eyebrow as well. Charlie tends to tilt his head a lot because he is also deaf in one ear. He stands about 6’2, and wears the clothes that he came to the laboratory with. Charlie often wears slacks and button down shirt or sweaters. Among his clothes, he has very few t-shirts and jeans. Charlie also wears his coat a lot; he’s always shivering, and just can’t seem to keep warm.
PERSONALITY: Charlie is a very confused individual. He often has a hard time grasping some of the things going on around him, and he doesn’t understand some of the things that are talked about. The memory wipe worked a little too well on him, only giving him very small wisps of his old life. Things, often, have to be explained to him more than once for him to understand.
He’s a very sweet man. Charlie likes being a shoulder to cry on. He’s good at comforting people, and often likes to nurture them. Charlie likes to spend much of his time with residents younger than him, acting as a father figure. He often lends an ear (the good one, most of the time) to those needing advice, or just someone to talk to. Sometimes he even lectures some of the younger residents, but he always has their best interest in mind.
Charlie is protective of many of the younger residents, especially the children. He has been known to step between fights to get the little ones out of the way. Charlie won’t tolerate bullying in front of him, and has been known to tell the younger residents that it’s not right to do that.
Though Charlie seems like he has a lot of people around him, deep down he feels lonely. Though many people come to him when they’re in need, ultimately, Charlie doesn’t have a place to go for him. That often leads him to live in his mind a lot. He’s very thoughtful, and has been trying to figure out the things that happened to him, but just can’t manage to do it.
Charlie, lastly, has this sense of worthlessness, but he’s sure most of the residents feel that way. Though he feels that way, he strives to live because there were children who need him.
MEMORIES & POSSESSIONS: Charlie has very few memories of his previous life outside the experiments. He doesn’t remember his name, and so he called himself (eventually) Charlie Bear. Coincidentally, Charlie Bear is extremely close to his given name. Perhaps that was just his brain making connections; no one will ever know. When he first came, he didn’t even remember his native language -- English was taught to him by young residents who’d been there awhile. He doesn’t remember his birthday, but 1966 rings a bell to him, and has asked multiple times what his age is. Many times Oleksei has told him, but he often forgets for some reason. He also remembers the names Brigitte and Gretchen, but he doesn’t know who they were. Often he thinks these names were perhaps his children’s names because he’s caught himself calling young resident girls these names, without thinking about it. Upon entering the labs, Charlie had a nervous tick, and no one was sure why until he gesture to a cigarette a menial was smoking outside. Charlie remembered he was a smoker, and the first time he took a drag, he vaguely remember sitting on a veranda with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth. He also remembered two dark haired girls playing in front of him. Ich liebe dich, Vati*, he can hear their voice, Ich liebe dich Vater*, and then they’d continue to play with porcelain dolls with ringlets in their hair. That memory only shows itself when he’s smoking…As far as actually memories, he doesn’t remember anything else.
Charlie doesn’t have very many possessions. He has his clothes, a woman’s engagement ring on a necklace around his neck. Charlie has a porcelain doll with blond ringlet curls. He owns one journal even though he doesn’t remember how to read or write anymore, and lastly, Charlie has a wooden apple, and he has no idea what it’s from.
** Ich liebe dich Vati= I love you Dad/Daddy
**Ich liebe dich Vater = I love you father.
